A banyan tree fell on Tuesday afternoon in Dubey Batraha village of Sripur police station area of Gopalganj district. A girl died after being buried under it. While a woman was seriously injured in this incident. The woman was admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. From where, after primary treatment, the doctors referred her to Gorakhpur.

According to the information, there was an old banyan tree in the premises of the Shiva temple located in Dubey Batraha village of Shripur police station area of the district. On Monday, it suddenly collapsed and fell in the temple premises. Harilal Yadav’s wife Phuljhari Devi and her granddaughter Riya Kumari, who were sitting under the tree, got buried under it. Where two and a half year old girl Riya Kumari died on the spot. While Phuljhari Devi was seriously injured, who was taken out with the help of villagers and admitted to the nearest hospital for treatment. After first aid, the doctors referred the woman to Gorakhpur Medical College for better treatment.
On receiving the information of the incident, Shripur police reached the spot and with the help of local villagers two JCBs were called. The branches of the huge banyan tree were removed with the help of JCB. After that the body of the innocent girl buried underneath was taken out. The girl was completely crushed. After the incident, there is chaos among the family members of the victim including Dubey Batraha village. On the other hand, Shripur police sent the body of the dead girl to Sadar Hospital Gopalganj for postmortem.
